The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities.
Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (KPMI) is a Christian faith based ministry which addresses the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women, youth and, their families. By sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, Kairos hopes to change hearts, transform lives and impact the world. KPMI sprang from the Cursillo movement and is supported by volunteers from the 4th Day movements such as Cursillo, National Episcopal Cursillo, Presbyterian Cursillo, Lutheran Via de Cristo, The Upper Room's Walk To Emmaus, and independently ecumenical Tres Dias as well as volunteers from independent and non-denominational churches. As a ministry, Kairos embraces a diverse group of volunteers working together to fulfill Christ's call to action in Matthew 25:36.
We need your help. There are many opportunities for you to serve in this ministry. All we ask is that you have a willing heart and a spirit of obedience and you can play a crucial role in God's ministry of Changing Hearts, Transforming Lives and Impacting the World. Here's some basic information to help you "get involved."
Be a Team Member
Kairos volunteers come from all walks and strata of life. They all share a desire to follow Christ's admonition of Matthew 25:36, "I was in prison and you visited me." If you feel God's call to minister to the incarcerated consider participating as a part of the Kairos inside team. Please contact us to be on an inside team. If you are interested in learning more and possibly serving or supporting a Kairos Outside weekend, please Contact Kairos Outside.
Be a Prayer Partner
All Kairos activities are covered with prayer. You can be a part of that prayer effort. Please sign up to pray for our upcoming weekend. If the prayer vigil link is out of date, please return to our site later as it is in the process of being updated to reflect the next weekend dates.
Be a Support Volunteer
Each Kairos retreat weekend has opportunities for outside support, such as baking cookies, writing letters of support, or preparing meals. Get your church's Sunday school classes to color placemats for mealtime in prison. Please contact us if you would like to learn about ways to be a Support Volunteer. We would be honored to come to your church or group function to explain more about Kairos.
Be a Ministry Financial Donor
All Kairos activities are funded by donations. If you would like to support this ministry by your donation, make your check payable (any amount is appreciated!) to Kairos Prison Ministry of South Carolina Inc and mail to: Joe Collins c/o Kershaw Kairos, 1035 Lester Mullis Road Indian Trail NC 28079. Please designate your gift as "KCI" or "Kershaw Correctional" in the memo portion of your check so that our team receives proper credit for your financial donation. Also, please print the "Donation Comment Form Link" and include with your check please so that we can provide you with the appropriate tax contribution documentation at year end. Thank You !!
Be a Cookie Baker
We may need up to 5,000 dozen cookies for a typical Kairos weekend. Do the math... that's 60,000 cookies! Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God's concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives. Your loving sacrifice will provide "bread" that shines the Light of God's Grace into the darkest corners of a prison unit. May God bless you for the gift of baking!
